Joe
is a V-46 Blue Papered Foundation Stallion. He is also a Gold
Foundation Stallion for the PSHR. Joe is the cornerstone of
our breeding program. We are breeding for a gentle, goodlooking,
all around type horse. This years colt Joe's Navajo Gold is
it.
CEJ is a very well bred horse and his maternal sister Traveling
Rawhide Gold is the 2008 Open Versatility Reserve World
Grand Champion. His maternal brother Missouri Governor is
the 2008 Open Senior Stallions and Gelding Model World Grand
Champion.
I have got involved with the FFHA because we have been around
fox trotters and had found a lot of problems with fox trot
gait consistency. There seemed to be quite a few who paced
and needed work with their fox trot. I found FFHA talking
about Tennessee Walkers being bred into the MFT and with
that brought some of the pacing problems. When I factored
my horses, they seemed to correlate quite often with their
V-factor number in the gaits they performed. The higher
the number the more often pace was involved. The lower the
number the more natural fox trot was observed. I
have since started weeding through my horses and promoting
only the natural fox trotters and breeding for the same.
I use the FFHA V-Factor number as a tool one of many to
give me a general idea of how a horse might perform and
what he or she might have as a natural gait. Sure there
are exceptions, but it has stayed fairly consistent for
me. It is working and this year we really have
some fine examples of this tool paying off. There seem to
be a few nay sayers out there. From my experience it is
due to the high factored horses they have and them not comprehending
what FFHA is really all about. We now have 6 FFHA registered
horses and two new colts that qualify and will be registered
this year. I see only good things coming from the FFHA and
will continue to use there vast knowledge and expertise
from their chat groups and from their directors.
